I am the LRC Manager at Connaught School for Girls in London and have been for 6 years, 2 of which I’ve been away on maternity. I’ve previously worked at sixth form colleges and the beautiful Wellcome Trust library. I graduated with an MSc in Information Science and Library Management 2 years ago with a renewed zeal to own my middle management position! I’ve seen three headteachers since starting here, and with each headship I’ve spoken to them about introducing information literacy, but with tidbits of information gathered from various places. I was overwhelmed with things that CAN be done and things that I couldn’t figure out how to do myself. Along came FOSIL through serendipity.
Last term, SLT announced they are doing a curriculum overhaul and creating a working party for a new teaching and learning policy. I jumped at the opportunity and have successfully managed to persuade SLT to include FOSIL in their wording of the T&L policy and curriculum planning. The resources on this site are fantastic and have made persuading SLT so much easier.
You’ll most likely see my name pop up quite frequently now that the ball is rolling. If there are any schools based in East London, please do get in touch as my most recent task is to find other schools close by that have adopted FOSIL into their curriculum.
