SLA Publication Description
This SLA Guidelines publication is designed to be a helpful starting place for anyone who wants to begin their journey into understanding the evaluation tools, guidance and framework which the IFLA School Library Guidelines provide.
The IFLA Guidelines take the lessons of school library impact studies to an international research context stretching back over 60 years, making it a highly effective way to consider the structure and impact of your school library.
The stated purpose of the IFLA Guidelines is to inform decision makers at national and local levels around the world, to support the library community, and to help school leaders implement effective school libraries. They are designed to be inspirational and aspirational, as well as to consider how improvements can be made, school libraries can be developed or additions argued for effectively.
This publication is a brief primer to help you get to grips with the IFLA Guidelines, how they may help you, and why you might want to read them in full.
