On 18 October 2024, I presented an INSET for new staff titled FOSIL-based Heroic Inquiry at Blanchelande College (PPT download).
I also shared a short article – Inquiry vs direct teaching for interdisciplinary STEM – by Russel Tytler, Chair of Science Education | Science Technology Engineering Mathematics and Environmental Education Research Group | Deakin University (Victoria, Australia).
This has an interesting and helpful reflection on Rosenshine’s principles of instruction from the perspective of a guided inquiry approach, which I extracted into an appendix to the article (see below).
